The Atlanta Astronomy Club (AAC)
holds it's very popular Zombie Party every spring. The name
comes form the look in everyone's face once they've stayed
up all night for a a full weekend of stargazing. However,
it's always great fun and a chance to get together with
other enthusiasts at a dark site.
In 2006, I had only recently
purchased my first telescope, a six inch Schmidt Newtonian
reflector on a computerized mount. So, it was quite a thrill
to pack up my new instrument and head for North Georgia in
April that year for one of the first AAC zombie parties. My
brother in law Frank got this picture while I was checking
out Jupiter early in the evening.
It was a great weekend up under dark
skies despite the very electric thunderstorm that popped my
camp the next day!!
