Today is the 1st of November and we have clear skies, but a bit disturbance.  Seeing about 2/5.  The sun shows prominences all over the place today.  From the NW limb over South to East.  A beautifull display of prominences.  Flare activity is light and restricted to 1598 so far.

The Halloween Sun.  Today the sun looked relative quiet, but it still shows a few nice active regions and prominences.  The sun has not produced a C class flare in 2 days, but today 1596 as well as 98 produced each one in addition to a few B class flares so far.  The Northern hemisphere has been quiet and most of the action takes place on the southern half.  Today a full disk image and closeups of the 2 prominences.

Hurricane Sandy caused cloudy skies for a few days.  Today a clear sky, but very bad seeing in the morning.  In the afternoon went to GPC to  meet Joe Seymore, who is a professor at Perimeter College for Solar imaging.  The seeing was a lot better at that time.  I am showing both images.  The second one was captured using an SM60 and is North to the right and East to the bottom.

Activity has picked up.  Yesterday late, 1596 released an M class flare and very early today, AR1598 send an X 1.8 flare into space.  Some smaller prominences are visible mainly at the eastern limb.

Bright skies again today.  The prominences of yesterday are gone with the exception for some small lingering proms.  The active regions are still there in full display.  Great view, even without the proms. Today a closeup of 1596.
