Not much time today but enough for an image of the sun with AR1208-14 and 18 and some nice prominances.

May 11th we had two great outreach events at CE for a gifted group of students from the Yargo Elementary school. One around noon and the second in the evening. Before they showed up for our presentation on the sun and let them take a look at it, I made this H-alpha image. It shows the full sun with active regions 1203, 1208 and 1210.

My first image in Carington Rotation 2110. The sun on 2011-05-10. AR1203 is moving close to the SW rim and more spots are popping up at the Western rim.

I slept in today but there was enough time to image the sun including a closeup of AR1203 with some nice prominances at the SW limb. The NE limb shows some new activity developing.

The Sun on Mothers Day! We were going to Atlanta to meet the kids for a Mothers Day Brunch. However I had enough time to capture the sun in H-alpha and Calcium-K before we had to leave. (It is great that the kids sleep so long…). Sunspots are emerging and it looks like activity is picking up.

Today is Astronomy Day and we have a Chapter Meeting and Observing after the meeting. I made some H-alpha images which were to be processed in my presentation at Charlie Elliott in the afternoon. Active Regions 1203, 05 and 07.

I had three outreach events this week and a day of clouds and rain. So I was glad to be able to make an image again this morning. Since i last imaged, AR1203 has already moved to the western limb of the sun, where it is kept company by AR1204 and AR1207 is emerging.

I took the time for an imaging session on Friday. Saturday we would be at Anna Ruby Falls for a solar outreach so there would be very little or no time to image. Here an H-alpha and CaK image as well as a normal and the inverted version of a closeup of AR1195.

Saturday evening Dan, Frank and I went to CE to see if we could get the images that Frank wanted for his presentation at the next meeting. However, we did not make it. Sunday I had problems with the camera we used the night before, so I made an image of the sun with the DMK31 and a focal reducer. I had trouble getting the settings right and after all did not post the image. Today was a different story. I had the time for a nice H-alpha, Calcium-K image as well as a closeup again of AR1195 and 96. 1193 is disappearing at the western limb and 1196 is deteriorating and 95 is not as strong anymore either and there seems to be a lot of activity developing on the NE limb.
