I’ve been pretty consistent in the alignment of my images over time I believe.  Today I experimented a little with other orientations.  Maybe I’ll switch to North up in the images.  So you’ll see some differences between the images today.  Today an H-alpha and Calcium-K image of the full disk as well as a closeup of AR1312 and 09.

Our side of the sun stayed relative calm these days, but the backside had a CME earlier in the week. AR1305 is ready to turn to the backside.   It is time for the backside to “roll around” and make it a bit more interesting. :-)

Today was a busy day, but took the time to make an image of the Sun.  Today some new active regions, but the sizes are not as big as a week ago.  Here an image with AR1302,05,06,07,09,11,12

Here the Ca-K images of October 3rd.  I used a bit less aggressive gamma and color balance today to see what the results would be.

Clear Skies, supposedly all week.  Today I spend some time making both Ha and Ca-K images and also spend 1/2 hour imaging a prominence on the SE limb.  Here the Ha images with AR1302,05,06,07,08,09. Notice the very large prom coming off the SE limb.  However during the 1/2 hour observation there was not much change.

Conditions were windy upper layers and surface winds, so the seeing was not too good, but transparency was OK. Did use my Meade 5x barlow today to make a closup image of  AR1302. The image is not too sharp but based on the wavy conditions in the seeing, this is not too bad.

It was time to make another image in Ca-K  which I haven’t done in a while.  The winds were pretty strong, so the images are not as crisp as I wanted, but the active regions contrast very nice against the surface detail.

A cold front came in yesterday afternoon and this morning the sky was clear, but it was very windy with a lot of windshear.  So some of the frames in the run were like a picture of an asphalt road in mid summer.  But thanks to Registax selecting the best is easy.  Here Ha images of the sun today.
