I put a movie clip together showing a three time repeat of the eruption of the 26th (for easy viewing) as well as a three time repeat of how the Solar Dynamics Observatory saw this event.  Please note that SDO’s sequence covers 2.5 hours (4 frames per hour) and my animation 0.5 hour (1 frame per minute).  Click the image to link to the movie.  Wait a little for it to start playing.

Today I caught the sun while it was ejecting a huge prominence into space.  The action was already in progress when I setup for observing, so I decided to image data for a timelaps.  I got data for 1/2 hour as the plasma started to move outside the frame.  I made one more image 1 hour after I started imaging to show how far the material had travelled in that time.  This was a wonderfull catch!  :-)   (Click the last image for the timelapse.)

A beautifull Thanksgiving Sun today.  A very large and wide filament visible today in the South Eastern quadrant.  Most of the active regions are in the (south) Western side of the sun today where 1618 has been pretty active yesterday with a number of flares including two M-class flares.  Today a full disk image and a closeup of what is going on around 1620 and 18.

Since yesterday, a large area to the east of 1613 has been active resulting in a CME and the collapse of several filaments .  Compare the images of yesterday and today.  Activity is on the increase, althought he last M class flare we’ce seen is a few days ago makes me wonder what’s still to come.

Wow!!  This is my 600 post in my astronomy blog here.  I started posting my images in May of 2008 with a series of 2007 images.  A long time since then and a lot of images of the planets, sun and other sky objects.

Today two images made on 11/13 of the Sun.  The Sun has been quiet but it is gaining activity again.  Today a full disc image and a closeup of a few active regions with spots.

The Sun started a new Carington Rotation 2130 on November 5th.  I’ve fallen behind with posting my images as the days went on.  So please see the gallery for all the images made on 11/5, 8 and 9th.  Here only a few of them.  I’ll try to stay current again going forward.
