It has been cloudy for the last few days, but this morning the clouds started breaking, but the clouds were very low and moved very fast.  However, I found a hole large enough for one image.  A lot has happened since my last image.  A new Active Region and the others are very dynamic.  Nor many prominances at the rim.

I processed 50 images for the animation and had some real issues, so I decided to use the B/W images.  Click on the image which will link to the animation.  To get an idea how fast this prominance turns:  The hight of the prominance is about 6 earth diameters and about 15 earth diameters wide  at the top and the animation displayes the activity for a one hour period.

A lot of activity on the sun today.  i noticed a hugh prominance this morning next to AR1166.  But today we have prominances all around the sun.  I am working on a one hour animation of the prominance and will post it as soon as it is done together with the CaK image.

AR1164 has developed into a large region with much activity.  Spots keep coming up while 1165 is very much decayed.  A new region is coming  just “around the corner” on the eastern limb.  A full disk image of the sun with some nice prominances around the northern part of the sun as well as a Calcium-K close up of 1164.

Images of the Sun in H-alpha and Calcium-K.  AR1163 has decayed and if you look at AR1164 in the CaK image with inverted vison, you might see an “one eyed face”.  See insert below the images.

I’ve been eye balling the next ISS transit oportunity.  A few weeks back there was a transit with Saturn, but clouds took care of that.  We had a Lunar pass, but this one was 60 miles away, and it interfered with an outreach event.  So today we have a transit with Jupiter , amost in dowtown Social Circle.  Pathwidth is only 330 feet and I believe the ISS at a brightness of Mag 2.4 would possibly be impossible to see in the glare of the sun.  But…. not to worry about all that.  Its cloudy anyway……..

Today was the warmest day of the year so far.  It probably hit 80 degrees.  A bit windy but nice for some imaging.

A nice day for imaging.  Today I did experiment with different camera settings for H-alpha captures.  I also made an animation of 1 Hr. of active region 63 and 64.  However, no prominances flaring during that time.  Here the full disk images both in H-alpha and Calcium-K with inverted images also.

Very cloudy this morning, but soon the clouds started breaking.  However the blue spells between the clouds were short and the clouds moved very fast.  So it created all kind of handicaps in imaging.  None the less, I captured these images with a new active region showing up at the eastern side of the sun (right in these images)

Clouds in the forecast, but I was able to capture these images before they came.  An H-alpha and an Ha-inverted image as well as another CaK showing AR1162 before it moves to the backside of the sun.
