The Sun is getting more active and showing some prominences also. Today two nice proms at the eastern limb and one seems to be building at the western limb. I made a closeup of the SE prom. Very nice structure of an arching prom. Also the number of active regions is on the increase.

Finally the sun is out again. Today 6 active regions AR1438, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45 and a few small prominences. the regions are relative calm with the last M class flare having been yesterday in 1445.

Thin high clouds impacted the exposure time a little today, but still a very nice day to image the Sun. The Prominence from the last few days is still there and looks very majestic. Imaged a closeup with a 3x barlow. Had to leave for an outreach event. The 4 active regions AR1432, 33, 34 and 35 are all bunched together at the Western limb today and will rotate out of view soon. Other than a few C-class flares yesterday and some B flares today and the prominences, not much action.
Earth shown for reference.

Little activity in the active regions, however the huge prominence at the SW limb is growing. Today it was so facinating that I did capture one hour of activity and am processing it as I am posting this. It looked like two rotating prominences. Can’t wait for the result. Four regions today AR1433, 34, 35 and 36 and a few more little proms.

Today no inverted images, but instead, three closups of the NW, SW and SE lims. The SW limb shows a nice hedge row prominence whereas the SE version shows a nice tall prominence. A little activity in AR1432 and 36. A nice sun to observe today with 6 active regions defined and some nice proms to look at.

Today we had a great outreach event at Rock Eagle. Check the Charlie Elliott Chapter website for details. This afternoon tried to image the ISS-Sun transit with Frank. However failed, because of a last minute mis-setting of the camera options. For cases like this I am my own worst enemy, there is no reason for this to happen! I had to listen to myself all afternoon . Well, so instead of the ISS, I got this image of the Sun 1/2 minute after the transit with active regaions AR1432, 33 and 34, but almost no prom activity, so did not image the proms.
(Great image for the attendees of the morning session).

Not much activity today. AR1435 has been named but is very weak and AR1429 has rotated to the “backside”. A few small B and C flares today, but nothing like we have seen recently.

Partly cloudy today but enough space to image. AR1429 is at the western limb and a few loops can still be seen. AR1432, 33, and 34 are around the CM with not much activity today at the time of observation, except for some nice filaments. I included a closeup using the Klee 3x barlow of AR1433.

A beautiful day again and I imaged the sun right after it cleared the trees in the west. Than a second time around when Stephen called and told me he saw nice coronal loops at AR1429. Four are visible in the fifth image below against the dark background on the limb. I also imaged the M2.7 class flare at that time in AR1432. The two middle images are one hour apart and the flare does not show in the first one. Not enough time in the day for an animation this time.

Since Stephen went to the Jon Wood Field yesterday, I decided t join him for Solar imaging instead of imaging at home. However, I had to run some errands first. When I arrived just a bit before 1:00 P.M. a huge M8.4 Solar Flare was active in AR1429. My first image was about 10 minutes after the maximum. I than started imaging for an animation. The animation shows a 70 minutes of activity in the AR compresed in a few seconds. Click the closeup image for the movie
