Five Active Regions today with a very nice display of AR1805.  1800 Has turned to the very western limb and the other regions display small spots.  The large prom visible two days ago still “hangs around” but not as active.  Flare activity low with one C class flare and three B class flares.

After a week of bad weather and the ALCon2013 conference at Fernbank Science Center, finally a few hours of sunshine.  The sun displays a few nice active regions.  AR1800 looks very impressive as it moves to the western limb.  But today we had a splendid display of prominences.  Included an image of the prom at the Eastern limb as well as an image and time lapse of the leaping prom at the Western limb. Click the last image below  on the right to see the time lapse.

With the number of active regions on the rise again, today’s images include a very nice fast moving prominence.  It was very hot and humid, so I did limit the capture to 1/2 hour of data.

Sun and AR1793. This sunspot has developed into two major nice spots with a nice region around it. However activity from this AR is very low, just one C flare yesterday. Today the new AR1800 is getting active with two C flares. The closeup of 1793 was made in very unstable skies, with airplane traffic stirring the sky up a bit. This is the best I could do with what I got.

The Active Region 1793 is developing in a good sized region with a great sunspot. Tried to capture the spot with the Celestron C11 with the 3.8u WL filter and augmented with a red filter, but the seeing was terrible. Didn’t even try to dolor the image. Maybe this is the start for some fun!!

After another week of terrible weather, just enough time to make some images between clouds.  However not enough time to create a timelapse of some of the flares on the disk.  A nice new Region for me at least AR1793 looks promissing for some nice shots in the coming days.

Another day starting off with relative clear skies, however, by the time the sun got higher in the sky clouds starting to roll in making it a mixed imaging session.  The Active Region grouping AR1785, 87, 89 is deteriorating a bit, but still nice, especially with the many spots.  Also a very nice prominence around AR1784 at the limb of the disc.  Today also a closeup of AR1785 through the C11 with the 3.8u WL and green filter showing some of the latest activity.

Today is the first day of Carington Rotation 2139 and the Sun shows a  beautiful area of plagues belonging to active regions 1885, 87, and 89.  In addition some beautiful prominences and filaments.  A great way to start a new rotation.
