Clear skies, but the seeing was pretty poor, which impacted the close up images.  A new region has turned from the far side of the Sun but is not named yet and shows two possible spots.  Today full disk images and close ups of the new region and the plage and faculae of the old AR2775.

I had to dodge some early cloud streaks from Delta.  However my patience paid off and got full disk images as well as close ups of a pore in the SE quadrant in all three wavelengths.   SWPC mentions a possible new named Spot, but is awaiting confirmation of the USAF observatories around the world.  So we’ll await the midnight report.

October 7, 2020
A Short Summary of CR2235
Carrington Rotation CR2235 covered the time period from 2020-09-07 1745 UT – 2020-10-05 0018 UT.
The observations can be viewed in my Solar Archive for CR2235 which can be accessed at: http://ceastronomy.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=51093
The rotation brought us 25 spotless days and ended a spotless streak of 33 days  on 9/24, which extended out of the previous rotation. We saw a small and very unstable new region AR2773, which appeared on two days, 9/24 and 9/26, each for less than 24 hours. Although its plage could be followed until it rotated around the Western limb, no spots were recorded for the rest of the rotation.   The size of the Active Region was 10 millionths on both days, giving a Total Region Active Region Area of 20 millionth, while the largest Wolf Number of 13 was recorded on 9/25. Overall Solar Activity remained Very Low while the rotation increased the spotless days count since solar maximum to 851 spotless days. Finally, during the period SWPC reported 1 A-class, 19 B class flares, of which 14 happened on 9/21, and one C1.0-class flare. The C-class Flare, was observed on 09/25/2020.

This time I would like to feature some images showing the plage of the old AR2773 on three consecutive days, before it turned to the far side of the Sun.
Clear Skies,
Theo Ramakers

Clear skies with another spotless Sun. We can make out three small areas in CaK in the SE quadrant. We’ll just have to wait and see…..

Today a follow up on the analysis I did regarding the reverse polarized areas during the Solar Minimum over the last four years. I did publish several reports about this during the time I was working on this, but I don’t believe that the complete list is still accessible on the internet.   The first area I detected was on December 21, 2016 and I stopped recording them in my summary, when  Cycle 24 polarized areas became very few at the end of February 2020.   Click on the link below to see or download the overview.

This morning some clear skies and the beginning of Carrington Rotation 2236.  The Sun remains Spotless and feature less today.  A very faint prominence was observed at the SE limb, but it was hardly to see and for the rest the Sun has really Very Low Activity.

Clear skies with bad seeing conditions today.  The Sun remains spotless.  I made a mistake yesterday with my initial posting.  It was not the 868th spotless day, but the 848th.  I did correct it subsequent in my blog and on Facebook.  The plage associated with Active Region AR2773 is starting to approach the Western limb.   So today possibly  the last closeups of that region.

Clear skies today.  Another spotless day for spotless day 848 since Solar maximum, and spotless day 6 in the current streak.  S.I.D.C reported for September a spot number of 1.0.  Full disk images and closeups of the plage and faculae of the old AR2773, as well as a CaK closeup of a small plage in CaK in the SE quadrant.
