Newborn Library Group Event

9 July, 2008 (20:13) | Events | By: tramakers

Thanks to Stephen, Clevis, and Theo. We finished another great event this time at the Newborn Library. We had about 2 dozen children between the ages of 6 and 12 and some parents.

The sky was broken, so between the clouds we were able to show the sun and a few flares. The observers had a choice between real visible colors through Clevis’ refractor and Stephen’s CPC, as well as in H alpha though Stephen’s PST and the mighty Coronado Solarmax.

The children (and the adults as well) did appreciate the views a lot. Following the outside show, it was off to the library to watch a short clip of the Phoenix mission to Mars, and the movie of the Cassini mission to Saturn.

We did get a lot of interesting questions from young and old, and I would not be surprised if some of them will show up at our meeting or at the observing field!

Again, Clevis and StePHen, thanks so much for bringing these kids and adults something they never saw in real time and with their own eyes! Well done!

We have posted some pictures of the event in our gallery. This link will get you to our events folder!!!!

I thank the staff at the Library for their cooperation and for providing the AV equipment. Special thanks to Judy Whitaker for helping us to coordinate this event!

Clear Skies!
