Cloudy this morning, but the sun appeared around lunch time.  Todays images taken after 13:00 local time.  AR1330 is getting less prominent while it is moving towards the western limb.

Very stable skies today.  AR1332 shows some very bright but small flares and 1330 is still as majestic as it has been all week with the very nice umbral and penumbral core structure.  Prominance activity today seems to be down from earlier in the week.  Very nice details but not much activity other than those mentioned.

Clear skies, but windy today.  The Sun is quieting down a little, the large prom from the last few days is smaller and some small proms show up around the disk.  AR1330 is still as beautiful as it has been for a few days now.  The forecast looks good so I might get my 14 day rotation animation later this week :-)

Today it was supposed to be cloudy, so we cancelled our outreach.  However, the sun was peeking behind and through some clouds for extented periods of time allowing me to get some avis through the moving clouds.  Registax 5 did its wonders again!  The large prom at the SW limb from yesterday is gone.  The one at the western limb is still there.

A very nice and busy sun again today.  Two very large proms extending at the Western limb.  One of them towering about as high as 10 earths.  The other about 5.  In addition, a closeup of AR1325 and 30 which has had a beautiful dual umbral & penumbral core structure.

Some very nice features on the Solar disk today.  Some very nice active regions with sunspots as well as some nice swirly filaments. Two closeups of AR1325 and 30 as well as AR1331

Back home from SF to a beautiful sky.  A CME left the Sun on its way to earth while I was away, but the sun still looked great with a very nice prominence which was at the eastern limb.  The closeup image shows the prom together with AR1325 and 30.

Today was the ASP meeting of  the Night Sky Network.  BTW a great meeting, with great hosts, and guests.  During lunchtime I was able to put the DMK on the SM40 on a manual mount of one of the participants.  Again, the lifetime of my laptop battery with the time needed to get familiar to tune, focus and tune with the sun sliding off the chip, and my sweatshirt covering my head and the laptop screen was a big challenge.  Here the best for today.

My friend Kenneth Frank in Tiburon asked me to come out to his house for some solar observing when I arrived in SF.  For sure I could not say no.  Since i brought my DMK, I tried to capture a whole disk Sun through his PST-Ha.  I had trouble finding the sweet spot for surface and focus.  In addition, my laptop had a “short life” battery and the mount was a manual mount. So the sun kept sliding of the chip while I was trying to guide, focus and tune.  Here the best I could do in the time with 216 frames. And of course: thanks Ken for letting me do this.
